Progress has been made on sinkhole repairs in Phillipsburg.

Repair crews worked overnight and removed the dump truck that became stuck when the sinkhole opened at Lewis Street and Summit Avenue.

Workers remained on site through the night to stabilize the area, fix the water main break and begin filling the hole. Electric service has been fully restored.

Water service is back for most residents, with the exception of 10 homes. Gas service remains out but is expected to be restored by the end of the day.

Officials said the site remains an active repair zone, and the public is being asked to respect all barriers and stay away from the area.

The intersection of Lewis Street and Summit Avenue is still closed, and drivers are urged to use alternate routes.

Residents who need assistance are encouraged to contact the Phillipsburg Police Department.
