A Hopatcong woman is facing theft charges in connection with the alleged misuse of Girl Scout troop funds, authorities said.

Prosecutors say Katelin Dora-Wester, 37, received cash and checks from Girl Scout cookie sales between 2023 and 2025, but failed to deposit the money into the troop's bank accounts. She instead used the money for personal reasons, police said.

Officials said an investigation by the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office and Hopatcong Police Department found that approximately $20,000 was missing from area Girl Scout bank accounts.

Authorities said the investigation began in 2025 after a tip about the alleged theft from the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey.

Dora-Wester was charged with one count of theft and was released pending a future appearance in Sussex County Superior Court, according to police.
