A Middlesex County couple that's been dealing with rats for more than a year in their North Brunswick backyard says they're receiving some help from the nearby business they believe they're coming from.

Kathy and Jamie Moravasik say the rat infestation in their backyard on Columbia Drive still hasn't gone away, despite months of traps, treatments and daily checks.

The business at the center of the issue, KGR Distribution, says it is footing the bill for neighbors seeing rat activity, has had multiple state and county inspections - and even hired workers to seal up cracks around the building.

The couple says while some rats have been captured, little has improved, and they feel they're running out of options.

"They said they're still active. They are still here. They put a camera in two of the burrows," said Kathy.

"This is our lives. I got to work," Jamie said. "I come home. I check for rats."

The Moravasik's say the rats have caused thousands of dollars in damage, including forcing them to remove their pool after the liner and base were chewed through.

Their dog has also gotten fleas from the rodents.
