Several people were hospitalized Tuesday morning after a vehicle struck pedestrians and a utility pole at Forest Road Park.

Fanwood police said the crash occurred shortly after 10 a.m. The victims were transported to University Hospital in Newark, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick and Overlook Hospital in Summit.

Authorities have not released the extent of their injuries. PSEG crews also were called to the scene to repair the damaged pole.

Gary Christie, a witness, described the scene as chaotic.

“There was an older gentleman on the court in very bad shape, and then there was, I think, his health aide, she was knocked under my car,” he said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Fanwood Police Department, with assistance from the Union County Police Department.
