A large fire tore through a home in the Lincroft section of Middletown Township early Thursday morning.

Fire crews responded to the home on the 200 block of Everett Road at about 4:39 a.m., according to Middletown Fire Department Public Information Officer Rob Allen.

"The resident reported being awakened by smoke alarms sounding and was able to alert her family and safely evacuate the home," Allen wrote in a press release.

Police officers responded and made sure all of the people were out of the home. When firefighters arrived, Allen said, they found heavy fire throughout the structure and "immediately initiated an aggressive interior attack using hose lines."

Multiple crews, including the township's air unit, were called to the scene to assist and bring the fire under control.

Emergency medical crews also responded, although officials say no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
