We logged four 100-degree days and over a month’s worth of 90-degree heat. Early in the season, a brutal heat wave pushed some heat indices up near 110 degrees. The hottest day came on July 29, when Newark hit 101 degrees, breaking a daily record.
Like much of the tri-state, weekends weren’t interrupted too often by rain. While flooding did affect parts of the state at times, most outdoor plans stayed on track. Only three of 13 weekends saw measurable rain.
