The Office of the Attorney General says a man is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Jersey City on Friday afternoon.

Jersey City officials say just before 1:30 p.m., a man shot two Jersey City police vehicles near Clinton Avenue and John F. Kennedy Boulevard. They say that the man fired multiple rounds and struck both police cars.

Officials say that a police sergeant “engaged the gunman."

"The sergeant discharged his weapons. He's good," an officer stated over the police radio.

The shooter was taken to the hospital but later died.

His identity along with the identities of the officers involved are not being released at this time.

The officers were taken to the hospital to be evaluated, but were not seriously hurt.

Officials are asking anyone with information about the incident to reach out to the Office of the Attorney General.
