Challenges continued in Haledon as Sunday marked 10 days after the massive water main break in Paterson.
The water is back on, but it’s very low pressure and is unsafe to drink without boiling.
Residents still got their clean water at stations set up at the Recreation Center and Manchester Regional High School.
Mayor Michael Johnson is preparing as if the water emergency will not end this week.
“Everybody might want to wash their cars or water their lawns, but we can’t because we're not there just yet,” Johnson said. “Our businesses in town just received word that they are able to get back to somewhat business as usual. You still have to boil the water.”
Cars drove up to the rec center to receive bottled water all day. It’s only for Haledon residents, who must show ID.
Johnson said the response has run a bill of about $300,000. State legislators have asked Gov. Phil Murphy for relief.
