Former NYPD sergeant Michael McMahon was sentenced to 18 months in prison for stalking a New Jersey resident and his family on behalf of the Chinese government.

The actions were part of Operation Fox Hunt, an international campaign to pressure alleged Chinese fugitives to return to China.

McMahon, convicted of acting as an illegal Chinese agent, claimed he was unaware he was assisting a foreign government.
