Route 9 in Sayreville has reopened following an early morning multivehicle crash.
Police say a construction trailer heading south on Route 9 broke loose from the truck towing it, hitting at least five other cars in the process.
It was not clear how many people may have been hurt.
The crash caused traffic backups for hours.
