A New York State Police trooper who suffered a gunshot wound on the Southern State Parkway on Long Island has been suspended without pay, state police say.

State police say investigators were executing a search warrant Monday at Trooper Thomas Mascia’s residence.

The developments come following state police announcing that they were “conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the shooting involving Trooper Thomas Mascia that was reported on October 30th.”

Investigators also canceled the search for the black Charger with temporary New Jersey license plates that was allegedly stopped on the side of the road during the shooting.

State police say that Mascia does not have access to his division issued firearms.

It was initially reported that Masica was shot in the leg by a driver parked near Exit 17 in West Hempstead and then hospitalized in stable condition at Nassau University Medical Center.

The Nassau County district attorney says they are investigating.

“My office, in partnership with the New York State Police, is actively investigating certain inconsistencies identified in the reporting of a shooting incident involving New York State Trooper Thomas Mascia last week on the Southern State Parkway. The investigation remains ongoing at this time, and we refrain from further comment until it is completed," said Nassau District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly.
