Hundreds return to Edison apartments following ceiling collapses; many still displaced
The town fire chief confirmed Sunday afternoon that buildings 2, 3, 4 and 11 reopened.

Hundreds of Edison residents returned home Sunday night after spending part of three days in hotels following repeated ceiling collapses at the Evergreen Meadows apartment complex.
Ten of the 13 buildings passed inspection Sunday. The other three - totaling more than 100 units - remain “imminent hazards.” Those residents in hotels remained as of Sunday night that were paid for by Garden Communities Management.
Residents returned home later than the original stated goal after four buildings in the complex failed inspections.
On Friday, a ceiling collapsed onto two sleeping residents. It was the second collapse in a week, which forced the evacuation.
Residents who returned home offered a mix of relief and uncertainty.
Edison Mayor Sam Joshi said that the town will be rounding up costs to send to the management group.
There will also be a town hall meeting for anyone with grievances.
