Saturday evening’s storms left a wake of damage across northern New Jersey.
In Cranford, the major damage was a tree through a window. Police said no one was home.
Over in Linden, a tree tore down power lines and crashed through a fence, closing part of North Stiles Road.
“The wind started blowing, the trees started shaking. I was like, 'Something’s going to go down,'” said one Linden native. “I saw my neighbor had [damage] on the front and the side here. She’s older so we’re helping her out.”
It was a similar scene in Rahway, where police closed a portion of Elizabeth Avenue after a tree landed on a car and brought down more power lines.
The storm sent hail to Boonton Township, and 60 mph wind gusts knocked out traffic lights in South Brunswick.
At its peak, there were tens of thousands of customers without power from this storm, and 90-minute delays at Newark Airport.
