NJ Transit says rail service is operating on time or close to schedule this morning following train woes that affected commuters all day Tuesday into and out of New York Penn Station.

Commuters had to deal with delays that were up to an hour and a half due to a disabled Amtrak train and overhead wire issues. This isn't the first-time riders had massive delays because of this problem.

Delays were so bad on May 22 that Gov. Phil Murphy sent a letter to Amtrak and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg that partly said, “A complete system failure caused an unmitigated disaster during the rush hour commute for thousands of passengers in the NJ-NY region.”

Murphy also added that NJ Transit pays Amtrak over $100 million to maintain rails between New York City and Trenton. Murphy said they came up with a solution together.
