Gov. Phil Murphy signed a bill to overhaul the state's Open Public Records Act, also known as OPRA.

It's a move critics say will likely make it harder for the public and media to access government documents and data. Everything from budget documents to public salaries are affected.

Numerous groups were against the bill, arguing it turns back the clock on decades of progress toward transparency.

In signing Bill No. 2930, however, Murphy said he believes the changes to the law are "relatively modest."
