STORM WATCH: Heavy rain lasts into the overnight; river flooding a concern

Flooding in Passaic and Raritan river basins won't be catastrophic but nuisance flooding is expected.

Flood watches are posted for parts of the state. The water levels are expected to rise along the Passaic and Raritan rivers. Flooding in those river basins won't be catastrophic but nuisance flooding is expected.

NOW: Rain is coming down hard. The storm is spiraling up the East Coast, wrapping rain off the ocean. This will continue until well past midnight.

THURSDAY: Showers will eventually taper in the wee hours of Thursday morning. Thursday should slowly improve with partial sunshine. Winds will start to pick up and the temperatures will feel cooler throughout the day. But there is hope for partial sunshine.

FRIDAY: The best day of the week. Mainly sunny skies. Temperatures will be in the low-50s.

WEEKEND: Saturday is cloudy with showers developing, likely during dinnertime. The wet weather will continue into Sunday morning. By Sunday afternoon the weather begins to improve and a spell of sunny conditions will carry us into next week.
