Some people are left scrambling after another iconic northern New Jersey hotel abruptly announced it would be closing this month. The Hilton in Woodcliff Lake announced it would shut its doors before the end of February.

Pyramid Global Hospitality – the management company for the Hilton Woodcliff Lake – says the hotel will close on Feb. 26.

This has not left a lot of time for people who have booked the venue for events such as the Mahwah High School junior prom.

The group Dead Man’s Curve also secured the venue for its Wild Hot Rod Weekend – a car show to be held this summer. They released a statement saying they have been working diligently behind the scenes and already have very strong options for the new location of their show. They say they are waiting for written notice from the venues before they decide what suits their needs best.

The news of the Hilton closing comes after the Sheraton Crossroads in Mahwah abruptly closed in December.

According to State Sen. Holly Schepisi- the building was auctioned off - to Zygi Wilf - the owner of the Vikings - and preliminary plans indicate it will be revitalized into housing.

“The pandemic, I think, really harmed a lot of these facilities, coupled with the fact that a lot of our corporate headquarters that were in our region have left Bergen County to cheaper states and those headquarters are now being converted into housing,” Schepisi said.

Pyramid Global says it will be helping employees find new opportunities with the buyer and/or other hotels or businesses in the community.

The hotel will be offering a full refund to those impacted by the closure.
