If Thursday’s sunshine and milder temperatures got you thinking about summer, now is the time to book a week at the Jersey Shore.

"The rental season got off to a little bit of a slow start in December and early January, but over the past three weeks things have really picked up," said Duane Watlington, owner of Vacation Rentals Jersey Shore/VRLBI.

And that means if you want those prime weeks at the shore, you should book it now.

"Since COVID has ended, prices have kind of stabilized. So prices are on par with what they were last year. Many owners did not increase the rates this year so there are some good deals out there to be had," added Watlington.

There are thousands of rentals to choose from on Long Beach Island, including big, small, budget and luxury. There is something for everyone.

"They have rates that vary, whether you're going to a condo. My house is one of the least expensive properties because it's an old original. Some of the homes sleep 20-plus people," said Ann Carletta, who is getting ready to celebrate her 31st summer renting out her LBI home.

"The south side is larger and has more amenities - restaurants and so forth. The north end is quieter, kind of a little bit more remote feeling, especially when you get up to Barnegat Light," said John Lopez-Ona, an owner of three rental properties.

And if those prime July and August weeks are out of budget, look into the shoulder season for even better deals.

"It's a little less expensive, it's a little quieter but there's still a lot to do down here. The island is still open and you can always go to the beach in September," explained Carletta.

The rental owners also say to read those online reviews because more often than not, they're spot on and can help you decide what's best for your family.
