Secaucus police are helping residents combat a rash of car thefts.
Steering wheel locks are being provided to residents for free. Police teamed up with Kia and Hyundai, which provided the steering wheel locks to them.
Officials say the locks are a deterrent against car theft.
“I used to have this a long, long time ago when I had friends in New York City," says Tarun Pand, of Secaucus. "And when I went to visit them, I would always carry this because it was New York City, but never used one here now. Now I should go back to it.”
The steering wheel locks will continue to be available to residents for free as long as supplies last. A proof of residency in Secaucus is required.
