Election Day is in just one week and there are three ways New Jersey residents can vote.

There is early voting, voting by mail and in-person voting on Election Day.

Many people have already requested vote-by-mail in New Jersey. According to Ryan Dubicki, a voting statistics analyst with the Associated Press, more than 900,000 New Jerseyans requested a vote-by-mail ballot, roughly 20% of eligible voters. Those numbers have increased to 22% in the last two elections. Eligible voters have until 3 p.m. on Nov. 6 to request a mail-in ballot, but they must do so in person with their county clerk.

“Some people find out at the last minute they have to travel, they have to be away, they're not feeling great, and they just want to get that vote-by-mail ballot,” says Monmouth County Clerk Christine Hanlon. “But again, you have to do that in person if you're going to do that the last week before Election Day.”

Traditional Election Day is on Nov. 7. Polls will open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Early voting hours will end on Sunday at 6 p.m.
