Over a dozen firefighters battled a three-alarm fire in South Brunswick late Friday night.

The fire displaced 15 people.

The fire was reported around 12:30 a.m. Video from Royal Oaks and East Garden apartment complex on Buttonwood Court showed a blackened and charred part of the building as crews hit hotspots with water. Ryan says the fire damaged the building, leaving eight apartments unlivable.

The residents displaced range from 10 years old to 65 years old, according to Deputy Chief Jim Ryan. He says the affected residents are all staying with friends or family elsewhere.

Ryan says there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is unclear. The South Brunswick fire marshal is investigating.
