News 12 got an exclusive look at the thousands of items up for auction from the former Chateau Briand.

After decades of making memories for Long Islanders, the catering hall in Carle Place closed its doors last December.

American Auctions, Liquidations, Appraisals, Inc. President Gerard Trimboli is in charge of the auction. He says this is a surreal one for him.

"I've been here for numerous weddings, parties, anniversaries," he said.

Trimboli says he's not the only Long Islander with strong ties to the building.

"Family memories have been made. Their children's weddings happened here. Their anniversaries happened here. Bat mitzvahs, bar mitzvahs happened here," said Trimboli. "All types of celebrations and parties and it just brings back a tremendous amount of memories."

The auction on Oct. 2 gives anyone the chance to own a little bit of this Long Island landmark.

The remaining decor in the building will be on sale, including paintings, Swarovski crystal chandeliers and a prop boat.

Everyday items will also be available for auction like pots, pans, plates, cooking trays, kitchen appliances and much more.

Also, up for auction is the custom-made banister of the main staircase in the entry of the building.

Whether it's a unique artifact or a plate, Trimboli says buying an item from a place that meant so much to so many is priceless.

"It's been my experience in this industry for 30 years," he said. "When a place like this, so well-known and so well-respected goes out, it hits home to a lot of people."

The auction starts at 12 p.m. Click here to learn more about the auction.
