As Hurricane Idalia ravages Florida and Georgia, New Jersey is ready to help once the storm ends.

Two volunteers from the American Red Cross set out Wednesday morning to Florida from Pennsauken. Volunteers John Delaney and Lynn Paul will travel to the Big Bend region, driving the disaster relief vehicle to a staging area and stopping to pick up supplies along the way. Lynn says sometimes it's the simple items, like a child's stuffed animal, that can bring the comfort needed to a child who has just lost everything.

The Red Cross already has more than 400 volunteers with 45 trucks in Florida. Once crews assess the situation on the ground, the call may go out for more volunteers to head down and help in the cleanup following Hurricane Idalia.
