Idalia made landfall in Florida Wednesday morning, disrupting some air travel.

The Federal Aviation Administration warned travelers about major disruptions across the country, including in Orlando and Atlanta. Tampa International Airport stopped all commercial air traffic on Tuesday ahead of Idalia’s landfall.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey anticipates more than 2.3 million passengers will travel through Newark Liberty International, John F. Kennedy International, LaGuardia and New York Stewart International airports during Labor Day weekend from Thursday, Aug. 31, through Tuesday, Sept. 5.

They say the anticipated volume represents an increase of 3% compared to the same holiday period in 2019.

Travelers are urged to check with their airline about the status of their flights and to allow time for possible delays and cancellations.
