The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a shooting that took place at the CareOne Wellington facility in Hackensack on Saturday morning.

The Prosecutor's Office said it was just before 9 a.m. when they responded to a 911 call from the nursing home.

The office said responding officers found 73-year-old Patricia Zaccario and 76-year-old Michael Zaccario dead with apparent gunshot wounds.

Both were Wood-Ridge residents.

The Prosecutor's Office is investigating the incident alongside the Hackensack Police Department. It added that the incident is believed to be domestic, and authorities are not actively looking for any persons of interest.

Early on Saturday, a portion of the road along Union Street was blocked off by crime tape as law enforcement began the investigation.

That was all the information that authorities and officials confirmed as of Saturday night, although reports were coming in that this was an apparent murder-suicide.

It was also being reported that none of the facility workers heard the gunshots at the time and that it was not until a worker went to the woman's room that the bodies were found.

A source told News 12 New Jersey some workers were told not to come to the facility Saturday morning as the crime scene was already active.

Law enforcement cleared the area and the facility was operating as normal by the afternoon.

CareOne at Wellington issued a statement. It reads:

"We are deeply saddened by the tragedy that took place at our Wellington building today. Our hearts go out to the victims' family and loved ones.

"We will be providing our staff and residents with the support they need in this difficult time. CareOne is fully cooperating with the local police department and intends to respect the proceedings of the investigation and the privacy of those affected. No further comments will be shared by CareOne at this time."
