Crews restore power for most Wildwood customers following substation fire

Power was back for most Wildwood customers following an outage that affected thousands of customers, some for more than 24 hours.

Atlantic City Electric officials said more than 80% of customers were restored by Saturday night, with the remainder expected to be back overnight.

At its peak, about 24,000 customers were without power following a fire Friday at the utility’s Lake Avenue substation.

Most of the Wildwood and Wildwood Crest areas were without power for most of Friday. This included Morey's Pier. The waterpark and Wildwood boardwalk had no power or running water.
