A car stop involving a 13-year-old driver turned into a high-speed chase early Saturday morning near Highway 35, according to Holmdel police.

Authorities say they pulled over a stolen car on Laurel Avenue with three passengers inside – a 13-year-old boy and two 13-year-old girls.

Police arrested the two 13-year-old girls, but the 13-year-old boy, who was the driver, sped off and crashed on Middle Road. Police say the boy fled on foot and is still wanted. He was last seen wearing black sweatpants, a white hoodie and missing both of his shoes. Police also say he's not a threat to the public.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact police at 732-946-4400.
