Taylor Swift fans are getting ready to descend on the Garden State as her stadium tour makes its way to MetLife Friday.

Memorial Day weekend is ready to kick off and families are heading down the Shore. It’s going to be three, jam-packed, sold out days at MetLife stadium.

AAA predicts this Memorial Day weekend to potentially be one of the busiest in terms of travel since the year 2000. And they are making it very clear that it could lead to backups on highways for hours.

AAA recommends either leaving for your destination during the early morning or late evening or to avoid traveling Friday altogether. Lesser traveled days will be today, Saturday and Sunday. But don’t forget that the area around MetLife will be impacted on all three concert days.

At Swift’s show in Philadelphia, an additional 20,000 fans lined Lincoln Financial Stadium outside just to hear her. MetLife says it's shutting that idea down.

Gov. Phil Murphy welcomed Swift to the Garden State and tweeted out a warm welcome Thursday. He also declared the “Taylor Swift Ham, Egg and Cheese” the official state sandwich.

Parking lots open at 12:30 p.m., and stadium gates open at 4:30 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. concert start time. Anyone who does not have a ticket to the concert will not be able to access the stadium parking lots.

On Thursday, fans waited during the early hours to get their hands on merchandise. Tents will be open until 8 p.m.

Rich from Edison says he was first in line for merchandise at 10 p.m.

“We saw some people showing up 24 hours beforehand so I said, let’s go at 4 a.m. and then realized we should probably get there earlier," he said.
