Arson investigators are probing a major warehouse fire in Hamilton Township, Mercer County.

The fire started just after midnight at the old Goodell Rubber Factory on Whitehead Road. The fire quickly reached four alarms. People living in the area say that they were able to see smoke for miles.

Officials say that 14 fire departments from across New Jersey and Pennsylvania responded to help fight the fire.

This is the second major fire in Mercer County this week. Another fire happened at an abandoned school in Trenton on Monday.

Investigators are trying to rule out any possible connection between the two fires.

“[Officials] in the next coming hours and couple of days will review anything in the area - review cameras - and that answer may be able to come down the road,” says Hamilton Township Deputy Fire Chief John Retalis.

Officials say that there was one minor injury. A firefighter slipped and fell and is expected to be OK.

Crews will be on the scene to monitor hot spots and prevent the fire from resparking.

Construction crews will also be on the scene for demolition.
