2 women from New Jersey to play in 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup

The U.S. team has a chance to become the first team to win three consecutive women's World Cups.

The 2023 Women’s FIFA World Cup, hosted by Australia and New Zealand, is underway - and several players are from New Jersey.

The goalkeeper Casey Murphy is from Bridgewater. She attended Rutgers University and plays for NWSL’s North Carolina Courage. Defender Alana Cook is from Far Hills and plays for OL Reign.

And from NJ-NY Gotham FC, Kelley O’Hara, Kristie Mewis and Lynn Williams are on the U.S. women’s national team.

The U.S. team has a chance to become the first team to win three consecutive women's World Cups.

The World Cup began July 20 and runs through Aug. 20. The U.S. team plays their first game against Vietnam Saturday at 2 p.m.
