Two teens hurt in a three-car crash on Route 129 in Trenton early Thursday morning were headed to class at Notre Dame High School.
The collision occurred at about 7:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the state highway just before Cass Street.
According to an NJ.com report, the teens were driving northbound in a sport-utility vehicle when it clipped a curb and struck two vehicles in the southbound lanes.
The report says the 17-year-old driver suffered a minor injury. The 16-year-old passenger was trapped in the vehicle when it overturned and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Officials have not yet released the names of either teen. Both reportedly play for the Notre Dame High School football team.
The school issued a statement Friday morning saying, "The Notre Dame family continues to pray for all those involved. We work diligently to protect their privacy at this time."
