Two people died in a car crash Sunday in Paterson and two were critically injured, according to Passaic County prosecutors and Paterson police.

The crash happened near 18th Avenue and Route 20 south after 4 a.m. when the car crashed into a pole, authorities say.

They say two of the four people in the car were pronounced dead at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center. The driver of the vehicle and another passenger are in critical condition.

The cause of the vehicle crash is unknown at this time.
