Two firefighters and a resident were injured in a blaze that destroyed two homes and badly damaged one other in Caldwell.
Officials say the fire started around 3 p.m. Friday in a home on Orchard Square. Windy conditions caused the fire to spread to other homes.
Two of the homes collapsed and were destroyed. Fire officials say it is likely that the third home will have to be razed.
Officials say that there were some difficulties fighting the fire due to a faulty fire hydrant, and the fact that electrical wires had fallen on one of the homes.
Two firefighters sustained minor injuries while fighting the fire. Witnesses say another person had to be taken to the hospital for injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
Bloomfield Avenue was shut down in the area for a time, but has since been reopened.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
