19-year-old charged with vehicular homicide in deadly Cape May County crash

Prosecutors say the Route 9 collision killed a 56-year-old man and seriously injured a 36-year-old man. The driver faces DUI-related and handheld-device charges.

A 19-year-old Erma man has been charged in connection with a crash that killed one man and seriously injured another in Lower Township, according to the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office.

Edward McVey was charged with vehicular homicide and assault by auto Friday in connection with the Oct. 1 crash on Route 9 in the Erma section of the township.

Prosecutors said McVey's vehicle collided with another vehicle carrying two people, killing a 56-year-old man and seriously injuring a 36-year-old man.

He was taken to the Cape May County Correctional Facility pending further court proceedings.
