119-year-old Clementon Park & Splash World closing, future uncertain as sale planned

Clementon Park & Splash World is closing and will be offered for sale after five seasons, marking another uncertain chapter for the historic South Jersey amusement park.
Management said it hopes to find a buyer who will continue the park’s history and plans to release additional details about the sale as they become available.
Clementon Park dates back to 1907, when Theodore Gibbs and his sons established it as a trolley park at the end of a trolley line to encourage weekend ridership, according to Rally Capital Advisors, which later served as the park’s court-appointed receiver.
The 52-acre amusement and water park closed in September 2019 and remained closed until it was sold at auction to Gene Staples in 2021. The park reopened under Staples later that year.
Staples is president and CEO of IB Parks & Entertainment, which lists Clementon Park & Splash World among its properties.
The park has not publicly said what led to the decision to close. Its announcement also did not disclose what will be included in the sale, an asking price or a timeline for finding a buyer.
