The
Garden State's largest manufacturing networking event took place in
Freehold today.
Manufacturers, legislators and
educators gathered for the 10th Annual 'MADE in New Jersey' Manufacturing
Day. All the products in the room were made in New Jersey.
The event is hosted
by the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, a not-for-profit organization that improves the profitability and
competitiveness of New Jersey's manufacturers. For the first time, the
event focuses on the women in the industry.
“The focus on our initiative is to
recognize women in their roles and what they do in their expertise in their
field to support manufacturing, and also find ways to engage women and girls in
the community and how they can become involved in a career path to
manufacturing,” says Constantina Meis.
The CEO of the program explained
why they should be recognized.
“Do you want to eat? Do you look
for cars? Do you live in a house? Everything we touch and come across is
manufactured somewhere by somebody,” says John Kennedy. “A lot of it is
manufactured by New Jersey companies.”
There are 10,00 manufactures in
New Jersey.
