A 100-year-old veteran who was a Tuskegee Airman was honored in Westwood Wednesday for his service.
Roscoe Draper served during World War II. He trained other African American pilots from 1942 until 1945 – a time when the U.S. military was segregated.
Rep. Josh Gottheimer presented Draper with a bronze medal for his service.
“We’re quite heroic in what we’ve done and we’re very happy to be respected,” Draper said.
Draper is also a member of the Philadelphia chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen.
