10 families displaced after Christmas Eve fire in Highland Park

Ten families were forced to spend Christmas Eve in a hotel after a fire at a Highland Park apartment.

Ten families were forced to spend Christmas Eve in a hotel after a fire at a Highland Park apartment.
The fire at the Cedar Arms complex started at around 4 p.m. Monday.
Neighbors telling News 12 that that no one was home at the apartment where the flames were first spotted. 
Mayor Gayle Brill Mittler's office says those affected are getting temporary housing with the help of an organization called Highland Park Gives a Hoot, as well as the Reformed Church of Highland Park.

The families were also invited to the annual Highland Park Christmas party on Tuesday, where there was entertainment, some good food and gifts for everyone who showed up at the community center. 
           
The event was put on by volunteers.
