1 killed, 3 injured in wrong-way crash on Route 1

An early morning crash killed one person and injured three others on Route 1 in Trenton.
Police responded to the southbound side of the highway at New York Avenue around 2:45 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a two-car crash involving multiple injured patients.
“During the incident, one person was pronounced deceased at the scene,” police told News 12. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
Another victim was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center and is listed in critical condition. Two other victims were also treated and are listed as stable, police said.
“Based on initial information, investigators believe one of the vehicles involved was traveling the wrong way on Route 1 when the crash occurred,” police said.
The roadway was closed early Friday morning while police worked to gather information and clear the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by Trenton police and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
