One man had a close encounter with a whale this weekend in Monmouth County.

Nick Petrucha, of Belmar, was on the water in Asbury Park when a whale rammed into the side of it.

"After about a half hour of seeing the whales super close, I figured they would clear out," Petrucha says. "But then I got a big bump and then got to my feet, looked over the side and saw the whale kind of swimming by."

Petrucha was not injured in the encounter, but his boat sustained some damage.
