The state released its Campus Security Task Force report Tuesday, which advises the state?s 59 universities and colleges on how to maintain safety on campus.

The report was created after the fatal shootings on the Virginia Tech campus earlier in the year. The task force recommends the schools amend emergency management plans to include procedures on how to react to incidents such as a shooting or bomb threat. It also recommends schools establish crisis intervention teams and develop notification procedures to deliver emergency information to students and faculty.

The task force requires colleges and universities to file amended emergency plans with their respective county office of emergency management and local police department.

The report comes days after a security breach at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park. The school increased security after two students were attacked and robbed at the Park Avenue parking lot during the day last week. Police believe the suspects specifically targeted a student who was carrying a large amount of cash to pay off a loan.
