Troopers rescue toddler, dog locked inside hot car

Two New Jersey state troopers rescued a toddler and dog from a hot car Monday after the pair was accidentally locked inside the vehicle.
State police said after visiting Batsto Village in Hammonton Township, a woman secured her grandson and dog in the back seat of her car. When she went to open the driver’s door, she saw that her keys were sitting on the passenger seat and realized the doors were locked.
The woman dialed 911, and Trooper Jacob Sherry and Trooper Steven Hodge responded to the call.
With the woman’s permission, the troopers broke the window of the car and safely removed the 2-year-old and dog.
State troopers said the child and dog were not in distress and were expected to be OK.
