School sub allegedly caught drinking at work
A substitute teacher in Manalapan was allegedly caught with more than coffee in her mug.
Some fourth-graders at Pine Brook Elementary School said they noticed something wrong with their substitute teacher, 54-year-old Mary Kaminski, around lunchtime Thursday.
?I guess she was drunk and then fell off her chair, and she got frustrated and she started throwing books around,? said Carol Sinco, the parent of a student.
Students also say Kaminski was holding her coffee mug tightly and carrying around a bottle. School officials say Kaminski was sent to the hospital and arrested shortly after. Manalapan-Englishtown Regional Superintendent Dr. John Marciante, Jr. says some students were upset about the incident.
?The guidance counselor met with the children and answered any questions they had,? said Marciante.
The school says this was an isolated incident. Meanwhile, Kaminski is being held at the Monmouth County Jail on $25,000 bail. She was charged with possessing an alcoholic beverage on school property and endangering the welfare of a child. The superintendent?s office says Kaminski will no longer be allowed to work in the district.
