(06/23/06) PERTH AMBOY ? Some residents in a quiet Perth Amboy neighborhood awoke to a crime scene on Woodruff and High streets Friday morning.

An individual returning home from work discovered a dead man lying in a pool of blood on one of the neighborhood?s sidewalks. Police have confirmed that the incident has now been classified as a homicide. The mayor of Perth Amboy, Joe Vas, just happens to live two doors down from the murder scene.

Vas says the murder is an unfortunate sign of the times. According to the mayor, crimes even occur in areas known for their peace and tranquility.
