Police say that Alavez was spotted in the back seat of the van when the man drove away. This was around 4:20 p.m. Monday, according to investigators.
Police say that the girl and her 3-year-old brother were playing on the playground while the children’s mother stayed in the car with an 8-year-old relative.
The mother reported that the 3-year-old soon came back to the car without his sister. She told police she was not able to find her daughter.
Alavez is Hispanic and stands about 3-feet, 5-inches tall. She was last seen wearing a yellow shirt, black and white checkered pants with a flower design and white sandals. She has dark-colored hair that was tied back in a ponytail.
Anyone who may have information about the girl’s whereabouts is asked to call Bridgeton police at 856-451-0033. Information can be sent anonymously by texting “Bridgeton” to TIP411.
