4h agoThe heat was on for Thursday with highs in the upper-80s and low-90s. Winds changed direction and are out of the west, which helped suppress the sea breeze a bit. Despite the warm weather, this was not record-breaking heat. The record for Newark was 92 degrees in 2001.
Winds come back onshore for tomorrow and high temperatures will only reach the 60s. The coast will see temperatures in the 50s. The clouds will also roll in and add to the cooler feel as well.
Rain will come back for the weekend. Saturday looks mainly dry to start but the afternoon will feature some light showers or sprinkles. Sunday will feature more of the rain and some steadier and heavier pockets. Temperatures will also be the coolest for Sunday.
Temperatures return to the 70s early next week. There will be a risk of showers and even thunderstorms on and off throughout the week.
NIGHT SKY: The Eta Aquarid meteor shower peaks Sunday night, but with rain and clouds in the area, viewing will be impacted. This meteor shower comes from debris left behind from Halley's Comet.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy, showers later in the evening and night. Highs around 60.
SUNDAY: Cloudy with periods of rain. Much cooler with a high of around 60 degrees.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny early. Highs in the upper-70s.
TUESDAY: Partly sunny with a few showers. Highs in the low-80s.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy with showers. High of around 79 degrees.
THURSDAY: Partly sunny with a high of around 82 degrees.
