Memorial Day is almost here, and one Jersey Shore town is using photos of some hometown heroes to signify why we commemorate the day.
Ocean Grove in Neptune Township is lining the streets with the faces of those who served our country. Forty-four flags with photos and descriptions of service from the men and women of Neptune have been placed along Broadway.
Robert Lane, a committeeman in Neptune Township and the force behind the flags, says the mayor and the committee wanted people to know what the true meaning behind the holiday is.
Vietnam veteran Wilbur Martin says he really appreciates what the township has done. He says so many lives were lost during Vietnam.
