Fair Lawn Mayor Kurt Peluso says five manufacturing companies have reached out looking to hire after hundreds of workers who are facing unemployment due to the Nabisco plant closing.
The decision to close the factory came from Nabisco's parent company Mondelez International.
The mayor says he's still not happy, and that the town was working to keep the plant going.
"I am not going to be eating any Oreos or anything from Nabisco anytime soon,” says Mayor Peluso. “I think the way in which they handled this was extremely inappropriate, just absolutely disgusting, and we will definitely continue to publicize those companies working with us to get these employees hired."
The mayor says he's thankful to the companies who offered jobs to the workers.
