The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office was out Wednesday inspecting boardwalk games at the Jersey Shore to make sure they are fair to play.

Attorney General Christopher Porrino says that common violations include over-inflated basketballs and rigged claw games.

Porrino says that inspectors at the Seaside and Point Pleasant Beach boardwalks turned up dozens of violations over the past few weeks.

“We took a look at a total of 55 establishments along the boardwalk,” Porrino says. “We discovered that 20 of those had violations, and we issued a total of 38 violations to those 20 establishments.”

Officials say that game owners are fined $250 for the first offense and at least $500 if violations are not fixed by a second round of inspections.
