Ho-Ho-Kus has reached an agreement to build affordable housing in the borough.
Officials agreed to create an overlay zone in the downtown area, which will span about 16 acres. This will help the borough meet its figure needs for affordable housing.
“We are going to be producing 13 borough-sponsored units at the Lower Train Station parking lot,” says borough administrator William Jones. “We also have a project that’s been approved by the zoning board for eight additional units at the Ho-Ho-Kus Crossings.”
These will be the first affordable housing units in the borough. Ho-Ho-Kus did not previously have the land on which to build large-scale projects. Jones says that since they can’t build out, they will build up.
